They both laughed. A staccato laugh that stopped abruptly.

"I opened the thingy, stuck it under me. I missed it at first. I mean, usually you're trying not to piss on things, aren't you?Weird trying to piss on something. Anyway, it took ages. You have to piss for ten seconds. I only just had enough. Then I had to wait for five minutes. Sat there, in the loo, just waiting. By the third minute I'd decided it was a boy. I'd decided to call him Jay, and that he'd grow up to be a pilot. That way he could take his old mum to places. All round the world. But in that last minute of waiting, it all went wrong. I thought my dad would probably chuck me out. I couldn't come to school with a big belly. I'd end up on my own, down the council, like that chavvy girl in my sister's class. Then I thought, I'm only little, I'd probably have a - what do you call it - miscarriage. Longest five minutes of my bloody life. That was just the test results."
