"Hey, Craig. Wear your other one. We don't match!" Jonas blocks the hatchway to the deck with his solid German frame. His dark bearded face poking out from the port hole made by the cinched hood of his orange rain jacket.

One eyebrow cocked, I give him my best -you got to be joking- look. The other guys stop putting on their gear and look at the two of us. Sure enough, in choosing my lighter one piece rain suit that happens to have a blue stripe down the leg, I have set off the hair trigger fashion sense of our deck boss.

Smirking to myself, I carefully pull myself back out of my suit and grab my solid orange bibs and jacket. He drops his arms and turns to go out onto deck. Juan and I chuckle softly to ourselves as we finish donning our gear.

"Superstitious fucker, ain't he?" smirks Juan.

Even our female fish cop can't help but giggle as she brings up the rear.

All of us hear the mains throttle back, a sure sign there are buoys near. We scramble out onto deck. I'm the hook man today so I grab what looks like a heavy 4 pronged grappling hook attached to a light line and give my shoulders a few warm up shrugs.

"Don't miss." says Jonas as I let the hook fly out over the dark waters to splash neatly between two buoys, snagging the line attaching them together.

"Yes, dear." I coo softly under my breath, the wind picking up spray and kissing my face good morning.

I drag the hook line back in and put the buoy line through the hydraulic block that winches the crab pot off the bottom of the ocean.

some of them are absolutely freaky about superstitions! Guys and gals, thank you so much. I just picked up writing this last fall so it means a lot to know that my writing "works" for people. :-)

Sandra, I can't imagine it, but if you think what I write helps you in some way, great! I'm happy to learn together.

D.B - I'm with you. I can't keep my thoughts straight if I've seen how other people have used the prompts. Reading them afterwards is so much fun though!

Good tale and use of prompts. I never knew that below deck, fashion ever came up in conversation!

good flash - seems like the prompt reminded both of us of the sea...Funny sometimes...saw another flash that references a boat on a lake...I make it a point not to read anyone else's before I write, to keep my mind open.  And yet, often I will write something in the same line as the rest of the crew.

I agree with Sandra KSL. Nice dialogue flow.

Very nice indeed - you're so good at dialogue plus extra expression, I am learning from you.
