Hey all, I have an issue with members that don't have the time everyday to post a prompt piece and then POST ALL OF THE WEEK'S PROMPTS ON FRIDAYS or any other day.

So far we are a few, so we all fit on the main page. Unfortunately I'm seeing alot of older posts that I missed because they were "bumped" by someone posting all 5 on a single day.  alot of those that got bumped are getting no comments. And the folks that do this (some) are good friends of mine so I feel secure in saying it's just rude. (I even did it myself one week to show how obnoxious it was)

HERE'S AN IDEA:

If you have to cluster, can you just post your Friday piece and then add (ALL WEEK) and then post the previous pieces on the day they were due (BACKDATING).

This way we know by the words (ALL WEEK) that we can just hit "previous post" and it will take us right to the other writer's individual pieces for the days they missed.

Honestly, this site is a daily prompt site, not a weekly. I think we should follow that basic guideline.

It also affords all of us our 12 or so hours on the Home page so that we can all keep up with each other.

ANOTHER SOLUTION: since there are no prompts for Sat and Sun people that need to cluster can post them all on the weekend?

Anybody agree/disagree....I think it's fair. anyone else?

@Jeanette, I think all three of the reasons you mentioned come into play when it comes to lack of comments. Firstly, we have to find a happy medium, and I've been on both sides of this. If you post too many pieces too rapidly, you turn people off, and they are likely to comment on only one or none of them, unless they love your writing style, of course, in which case they will make the effort to read and comment on everything. Conversely, if you post infrequently, some will miss them and some will consider you're not so serious about your craft. It's a dilemma all right, trying to keep the flow steady enough to garner satisfying commentary and trying to read as much as you can so as not to miss any great stuff, and to let those you admire know that you do.
Add into the mix a third of your life spent working a daytime job, and, hopefully, a third of your life getting a good night's rest, it doesn't leave very much time for all that reading and writing, the two great loves of mostly everybody here.
As for myself, I find I'm working in fits and starts, getting a little depressed when I'm not writing a lot and not finding time to read all that's available, and then making up for it when I get some free time, or giving up sleep. I don't seem to be able to find the balance, and wonder sometimes if I'm manic-depressive because, of course, all the time I'm placing too much emphasis on those comments directed at my work.
If you find a working solution, let us know, will you? And good luck on that score.
Regards.
Thanks Michael, I appreciate your taking the time to answer my question. When Blake asked me to join the site I told him, I didn't know how much time I would have. I have tried to juggle it all. I cannot post a story everyday anywhere. I love to be all over the place, but soemtimes it js can't be done. I am very proud of how many people tha have asked me to write something for them. I never want to stop that.
Hi Michael and Jeanette:
I just wanted to throw in a few thoughts. First, thank you both for taking the time to chime in on a difficult topic. I'm sure I'm sounding like a broken record, but I wanted to reiterate that I built T10 with the hopes of creating a simple place where writers can come practice, get some feedback, and hopefully get to whichever next level of development they are seeking. I am so grateful that so many amazing writers have found this venue and hope, very much, that it remains a place you can count on. I want this to be a playground where rewards come in the form of comments and advice and interaction instead of $50 challenge prizes or other shiny incentives that distort the purpose of why we write. Don't get me wrong, these are fun (especially the many directions that Rob is taking 6S!). But T10 is different in so many ways and I hope people can appreciate the philosophy behind what I'm trying to create here. I am so passionate about the writers here and am determined to help each of you out in any way I know how. This site gets A TON of traffic--even if folks are not signing in with accounts. Each of your posts are getting an incredible amount of views from people all over the world, every day. You all should be so proud of the work you are producing. Commenting will come; I promise. Please remember that we are only 3-4 months old!

If there is anything at all I can do to help make this site better, please let me know. Regarding this particular problem that Alisa posed: there is not a lot I can do. Everyone has different styles and different levels of Internet-savy understanding. I really do not believe most of the people posting three flashes in a row are trying to dominate the news feed. If they are sticking to the prompts, then I want to encourage posting as much as possible. However, what I am noticing a lot of lately, is people posting outside the prompt (poems, free association, etc.). This takes up feed real estate and I am trying to let these folks know that such posts should be placed in the Forum.

I rambled too long! Sorry.
Blake
I must ask you---is it okay the way I have been participating? If not let me know. I have advertised on Facebook, some of my friends ask me where I'm posting from time to time so I tell them. Like I said, I'm all ovr the place. After your invertation I chose this site because I thought this was a place I could learn and bond. Possibily help somene else.
Hi Jeanette!
I am just so happy you value the site. Please don't ever worry about how often you participate. Stop by when you can!
Thanks, Blake. I didn't want the way I did things to become problemmatic for the others. I have put more on this site in a short period of time than any of the other sites I frequent.
Thanks Stephen. Do let me know if there is anything I can do to help out from my end; in the mean time, I'll let you all shape the site. The last thing I want, however, is for folks to feel discouraged or (as Jeanette put it) chastised!
(we call Blake "His Highness") he def. deserves it!
Hey Stephen, you could send your poems via email to your friends as well so we don't miss them. I would like to read them and would never have thought to check here until you mentioned it. And thanx for all your comments and thoughts on this subject and my pieces.
I just found this today.
I completely forgot about it!
In the middle of editing a book, I rarely have time to post daily. What happens usually is that I post on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday whatever prompts I've missed during the week. I will try hard to do my posting on the day of the prompt.
